This simple and easy to make crumble is the perfect dessert for the fall. Cozy up with a slice of this and some tea and watch the leaves change color.

Pears are a good source of vitamin C, folate and dietary fiber. One medium-size (6 ounce) pear has less than 100 calories. Pears also have useful amounts of potassium, iron, pectin and cellulose. Apples are low in calories and high in soluble fibers that help lower cholesterol. The fruit has only 90 calories and is a great source of pectin to help lower blood cholesterol. This recipe is a great source of potassium.

Spiced Pear and Apple Autumn Crumble

Ingredients

3 pears (cored and diced)
3 apples (cored and diced)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup all purpose flour or other flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup granulated maple sugar or other sugar
1 teaspoons allspice
½ teaspoons sea salt
6-8 tablespoons butter (softened)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Place diced pears and apples into a 9×12 casserole dish with lemon juice. Combine flour, oats, maple sugar, allspice and sea salt.
  3. Work softened butter into the flour mixture until it looks like rocky crumbs. Top fruit with crumb mixture.
  4. Bake 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
