4-Ingredient Chocolate Popped Quinoa Snacks

chocolate popped quinoa snacks

I think each one of us as a child, was going mad for Rice Krispies, because they were crunchy, sweet and they could be eaten in many ways (drowned in a cup of milk, covered with chocolate or by eating handfuls of them directly from the box). These really remind those but they are absolutely a healthier version. I have bought online the puffed quinoa because I wasn’t able to find it where I live, but if you are in a big city I don’t think you will have any problem, I do prefer quinoa of course for all its good properties as the high fiber and protein contained in it. Instead of the raw cacao powder, you can substitute Further Food Chocolate Collagen to get the same delicious chocolatey taste with no added sugar, but many benefits including stronger hair and nails.

These treats are really easy to make, you just need 4 ingredients (raw cacao, coconut oil, maple syrup and puffed quinoa) and 10 minutes of your time to make and can be an easy and quick snack to keep in the fridge for when you are craving something sweet. But they are really perfect for a last minute dinner with friends. The original recipe has also almond butter (or any nut butter of your choice), but I have tried without and like it more, of course you can add it and make these treats more sweet and fanciful. They’re really indulgent and chocolatey but totally guilt free and gluten free. Believe that they are a revelation!

Further Food Commentary:

Swapping out the usual rice cereal for puffed quinoa in this healthy treat is a great way to up the amount of fiber, iron, and protein. As one of the few plant-based complete proteins, quinoa provides all nine essential amino acids our bodies need, which is not found any other type of grain.

The cacao powder adds both the rich chocolatey taste we know and love, but also an impressive checklist of good for you nutrients. Cacao is a great source of natural antioxidants, magnesium, iron, and even dietary fiber.
