With this pear bellini, you won’t sacrifice flavor or calories for indulgence. It’s a great way to use those fall pears that you are seeing all over farmers markets. So what are you waiting for? Grab a champagne glass, some pear puree and your favorite bubbly, and toast to fall and colder weather and good company!

One way of controlling the tendency to overindulge at this time of year is to choose ahead of time - dessert or drink. With this cocktail, you get two in one! The sweetness of the pear can satisfy the dessert craving and the champagne adds to holiday cheer. Drinking a glass of water in between each cocktail also helps to lower the number of drinks you ultimately have, and prevents dehydration and that dreaded next morning hangover.

A serving of alcohol a day may reduce your risk of heart disease. However if you don’t already drink, it is recommended that you do not start as the risks are sure to outweigh the benefits.

1-2 ounces club soda

4 ounces champagne

  1. Pour pear nectar and club soda into champagne glass.
  2. Carefully pour champagne on top of nectar. For an ombre effect, do not mix or stir.
