Sesame Chocolate Tahini Cookies

These chocolate tahini cookies are a fun twist on a classic cookie. Use dark chocolate morsels or vegan chocolate morsels to make these cookies completely vegan!

Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds and is a great base for sauces, dressings, and a fun addition to sweets! One tablespoon has 6% of your daily calcium and 7% of your daily iron. Flax seeds can be a great vegan substitution for eggs. When you mix them with water, they gel up which makes them an excellent binder. Additionally, flax seeds are a great source of omega-3 and can help with digestive health.

Sesame Chocolate Tahini Cookies

  • Prep Time:5 minutes
  • Cook Time:15 minutes
  • Servings: 12

Ingredients

1 flax egg (1 tablespoon flax seed in 3 tablespoons warm water)
1/2 cup Tahini
1/2 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup almond flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup coconut sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teapoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chocolate morsels
sesame seeds – black & white

Instructions

  1. Prepare flax egg, set aside for a few minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 and prep baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix wet ingredients including flax egg, fold in dry.
  4. Scoop tablespoon of dough, form into balls and roll in sesame seeds, I used black and white.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes or until cooked.
