What is Dr. Hyman Cooking Today? Discover His Easiest, Healthiest Fall Meal Plan (and Secret Pumpkin Cookie Recipe!)

By Dr. Mark Hyman With the return of autumn comes the opportunity to savor some of my favorite healthy meals. Soups, stews, warm beverages, roasted veggies -- these are just a few of my favorite things to enjoy when it starts to get cool outside. Unfortunately, a lot of typical fall treats are filled with sugary, toxic chemicals, but it IS possible to enjoy this season without all the processed junk. So chuck the store bought pumpkin spiced lattes and Halloween candy, and reconnect with your kitchen. Making your own delicious treats and meals at home will ensure that you are putting tasty AND healthy foods into your body. If you’re looking for some kitchen inspiration, check out my new book, Eat Fat, Get Thin Cookbook which will be out this December. It’s filled with plenty of ideas for each season. In the meantime, I’ve created a fall menu for you using some of my favorite recipes. All of these recipes are vegetarian, but they can be modified to include any protein that you’d like. Stay warm! non-coffee-vanilla-latte-healthy-heart Pre-Breakfast: Non-Coffee Vanilla Latte This delicious latte, inspired by my friend, Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof, is the perfect warm beverage to enjoy when you’ve given up coffee or just need a little break from caffeine. You can also add a little pumpkin spice to make the drink more festive. spiced-pear-smoothie-antioxidants-fall-breakfast Breakfast: Spiced Pear Smoothie I usually have some eggs or a smoothie for breakfast. Yes, you read that right, I still enjoy a smoothie even when it’s cold, but I love to put a spin on the smoothie and incorporate spices or different fruits. This Spiced Pear Smoothie is the perfect fall beverage without all of the sugar and processed ingredients in typical pumpkin spiced drinks. This smoothie also includes one of my favorite milk alternatives, Brazil nut milk. Add protein powder to up your nutrients. quick-cauliflower-coconut-stew-healthy-heart-antioxidant Lunch: Quick Cauliflower Coconut Stew This delicious stew is filled with plenty of healthy fats! Comforting and warm, it’s one you can enjoy for lunch or dinner. I like to make this stew on a Sunday night and keep leftovers for lunch the next day. roasted-vegetable-lasagna-with-cashew-ricotta-cheese-heart-healthy-dairy-free Dinner: Vegetable Lasagna with Cashew Ricotta Who says you can’t enjoy comfort food while nourishing your body?
