3 Amazingly Powerful Allergy-Fighting Juice Blends This Doctor Swears By
The spring weather may be beautiful, but are allergies keeping you down? There’s nothing worse than not being able to enjoy the outdoors on a sunny day. Your immune system needs a boost and I’ve got three juice blends (my personal favorites!) that will do just that. Throw all the ingredients into a high-powered blender or juicer. Enjoy! 1. Orange, Raw Honey, Ginger, Lemon Juice This drink is delicious cold or warm and is best when made with a juicer. It’s a power-packed juice with a high dose of vitamin C from the citrus fruits. Vitamin C helps block histamine. Raw honey contains propolis, which boosts immune system function. Ginger gives it a nice kick of flavor and is an anti-inflammatory food, which helps fight allergies by minimizing the inflammatory response. Recipe: To a high-powered blender or juicer, add:
  • Juice of 1 to 2 oranges
  • Generous squeeze of raw or Manuka honey
  • One ginger nub
  • At least half the juice of a lemon
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of cold or warm water (I like to froth and sip mine warm)
Blend until combined and smooth. 2. Parsley, Cucumber, Green Apple, Mint Juice This drink will remind of you allergy season because it’s green, like the grasses that cause so many people problems! The parsley is a natural diuretic, blocking histamine. It’s also a flavonoid, so it acts as an anti-inflammatory food in the body, which minimizes that inflammatory response. Apples contain another important flavonoid called quercitin, which helps reduce and control allergic inflammation. I recommend green apples because they have a lower sugar content. The mint contains menthol and rosmarinic acid, which acts as a decongestant and helps stop the allergic response, in addition to adding great flavor! Recipe: To a high-powered blender, add:
  • 1 to 2 (depending on size) organic green apples, cored
  • 10 to 12 organic parsley leaves
  • 1/2 organic cucumber
  • 2 to 4 fresh organic mint leaves (less or more depending on your taste buds)
  • 1/2 cup water or coconut water
  • 3 to 5 ice cubes
Blend until desired consistency. You can add a squeeze of honey if it’s too tart. 3. Apple, Pineapple, Kale Juice This is one of my favorites because of the pineapple! My kids love it. Aside from being sweet and delicious, pineapple contain bromelain, which is a natural antihistamine. Blend with kale and you’ll get a good serving of your greens for the day and apples for a boost of quercitin! Recipe: To a high-powered blender, add:
  • 1 to 2 (depending on size) organic green apples, cored
  • 1 cup of chopped kale (remove from stalk)
  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of purified water
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes
Blend until desired consistency. Want more?
