Further Food Commentary:

Talk about a nutrition powerhouse! A collagen infused smoothie with rich hazelnuts, bitter cacao, sweet dates, and creamy banana, is an excellent choice for a post-workout recovery drink, rich yet healthy dessert, or even as an energizing breakfast shake. This recipe is particularly high in potassium, which is a notable component, since consuming the RDA of potassium can be a difficult task for many people.

  • Cook Time:n/a
  • Servings: 2

Ingredients

½ cup roasted, skinned hazelnuts (see instructions below)
¾ cup coconut water
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2 Medjool dates, pitted
1 frozen banana, peeled
Pinch sea salt
2 heaping tablespoons (2 scoops) Further Food Collagen

Instructions

Roasted Hazelnuts
1. Preferably the night before, roast hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking tray at 180C/350F for about 10 minutes until toasted and aromatic and the skins turn a couple of shades darker.
2. Remove from oven and while the hazelnuts are still warm, rub between a towel or paper towel or your fingers to remove the skins.*
3. Let the hazelnuts cool completely – preferably overnight – or they will not blend as finely as they should.

*Aim to remove at least 70% of the skins (which can be quite bitter). If there are some stubborn ones, you can pop them back in the oven for a few more minutes and try again.

Smoothie
1. Place all ingredients into blender, liquids first.
2. Blend on low speed, then high, until smooth and creamy.
3. Pour into glasses, decorate, and enjoy!

Founder's story:

"My father had just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my mom was
managing her hypothyroid, and my best friend was struggling with painful IBS.
I went online to search for food-based and natural solutions that could help
them heal. But what I found was scattered, disorganized, and left me more confused. I thought, ‘There must be an easier way to discover solutions for various ailments from real experts and from people who had done it themselves. So I decided to build a resource—a platform for food as medicine solutions

How does this qualify as a sugar free snack when it has a whopping 29g of sugar!! Even it is is natural sugar (dates, bananas), sugar is still sugar!!
