Creamy Winter Chai

Print

Sometimes you need a warm, cozy cuppa and for vegans or those with certain food allergies, often the only option is another long black. Free from dairy, soy, egg, wheat, gluten, refined sugar and nightshades, this aromatic chai is an allergy-friendly, hot drink with a creamy aftertaste. Perfect for those winter nights spent by the fire place.

Further Food Commentary:

Chai is truly a warming beverage to enjoy on a cold day thanks to the aromatic spices that impart warming qualities of their own, aside from the comfort offered by a hot beverage. Many Americans have become accustomed to the overly sweet chai concoctions at coffee shops that are only a shadow of true chai. Traditional chai is a blend of black tea with fragrant and subtle spice notes that have been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic healing to calm digestive troubles.

FYI: This recipe contains coconut, which is classified as a fruit even though the FDA labels it as a tree nut.

These spices are really warming and great for winter time! I make mine with almond milk instead of coconut cream and while it’s not as thick it’s still quite tasty. Thanks Aleshia!
