Orange Ginger Kombucha Bourbon Cocktail

Print

Ever thought of using kombucha as an all-natural cocktail mixer? It’s natural fizz, slight tang and laundry list of health benefits make it a perfect alternative to pre-made mixers that are full of sugars, dyes, and additives. To make this cocktail into a sippable winter warmer, I added ginger, fresh-squeezed orange juice and bourbon. It’s perfect for indulging in front of a roaring fire – or anywhere else, really!

Further Food Commentary:

Sweet cocktails may be tasty, but often sneak in a lot of empty calories. While kombucha is sweetened before fermentation, much of the sugar is consumed by the good bacteria during the process, leaving a lower-sugar final product. Those bacteria are helpful in increasing immunity and improving digestion, perfect for protecting against winter colds and holiday dessert tables. Fresh-squeezed orange juice adds natural sweetness, and a punch of vitamin C for antioxidant and immune support. Ginger is anti-inflammatory and also great for digestion.
