I wanted to create a superfood smoothie for a power-packed morning meal that was satisfying to eat, easy to digest and delicious! The chlorella especially makes it a very alkalizing smoothie that will help keep my body from getting too acidic all day long! I make it when I have a long, active day ahead and need a great boost of energy in the morning. I love it’s fun color and the variety of crunchy toppings that encourage you to chew your smoothie!

Some days call for an extra boost of plant-powered energy, and getting it through a straw is refreshing, convenient, easy to digest and packed with energizing nutrients. Hannah's green smoothie is loaded with minerals, antioxidant vitamins and fiber from kale and berries, plant-based protein from chlorella* (use spirulina as an alternative), and healthy omega-3 fats from the almond butter and chia.

*Chlorella is a green micro-algae that is nearly 60% protein, and contains all of the essential amino acids, making it a complete protein source suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It's also an excellent source of B vitamins, magnesium, iron, zinc and powerful antioxidants.

Note: ​Decrease calories and sugar by choosing unsweetened almond milk, and almond butter​ (if store-bought)​ with only one ingredient -- almonds.​ The latter will likely cut down the sodium levels as well.​

Ingredients

1 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup destemmed, packed kale leaves
1 tablespoon chlorella powder
1 1/4 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 scoop Further Food Collagen Peptides

Toppings (optional):
1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1 tablespoon raisins
1/2 crumbled brown rice cake

Instructions

1. Blend all smoothie ingredients together (adding more almond milk if necessary).
2. Pour into a bowl and sprinkle artfully with your choice of toppings!
3. Enjoy with a spoon and smile.
